The Reed Race Ruine Lake Titikaka
Three adventurers fight to prove that Lake Titicaca on the border line of Peru and Bolivia is the Center of the New World. Thor Heyerdahl is wrong. Not Egypt but the Tiwanaku empire once centered around Titicaca carries the wisdom of our world. Maaike and Peter check the rumors and the fight between three men. A story, live from Lake Titicaca.

Heroism

According to Colonel John Blashford-Snell (very British and adoring the heroism and adventures of Burton and Livingstone) the Tiwanaku copied their knowledge from the scientists of the mysterious legend ‘Atlantis’. Plato wrote about this city a long time ago. Confirming Blashford-Snell ‘Atlantis’ was built in land locked Bolivia and the back garden of Peru known by military coups, the death of Che Guevara and drug trafficking. To be more precise: it is situated on the bottom of Lake Titicaca. True or not? We have not seen a damn thing but fact is that Jacques Yves Cousteau was diving here for treasures. He was looking like he said for ‘The Pot of Gold’. Anyway, Blashford-Snell builts its theory on the presence of an enormous channel on the Altiplano, the high plateau between the Andean Mountain chains where lake Titicaca is situated. Plato mentioned an irrigation channel with the width of one stade or 184 meters. That is exact what air photographic interpreter and amateur archaeologist Jim Allen measured.
Furthermore there seems to be a Geo-physical match. As Plato put it: "The whole region rose sheer out of the sea to a great height, but around the city it was all smooth plain, enclosing it round about and being itself encircled by mountains that stretched as far as the sea."

Tiwanaku-Atlantis

Well, well, well, isn’t that cute? Maaike and I can hardly breath at 3.840 meters, with at close range 6.200 meter snow-capped mountains. We watch the world famous Lake Titicaca and its surroundings. The birthplace of the Tiwanaku's and - much later - the Inca's. Here? Do we sit on the spot where the New World started? Where science and human development begun? How does it come that scientists found in the bodies of ancient Egyptian mummies traces of cocaine and tobacco imported from Peru, Colombia and Bolivia? Blashford-Snell says that these plants were transported by so-called balsas or sailing boats made from Lake Titicaca reed. Would that be true?
Inspired by Thor Heyerdahl's missions, Blashford as a president of the Scientific Exploration Society, organized in 1998 with the British chapter of the Explorers Club, the Kota Mama expeditions. Like Thor Heyerdahl, he wants to prove that ancient sailing boats made of reed linked the cultures of Egypt and Mesopotamia with Tiwanaku or even Tiwanaku-Atlantis!
