Tiwanaku-Atlantis
Well, well, well, isn’t that cute? Maaike and I can hardly breath at 3.840 meters, with at close range 6.200 meter snow-capped mountains. We watch the world famous Lake Titicaca and its surroundings. The birthplace of the Tiwanaku's and - much later - the Inca's. Here? Do we sit on the spot where the New World started? Where science and human development begun? How does it come that scientists found in the bodies of ancient Egyptian mummies traces of cocaine and tobacco imported from Peru, Colombia and Bolivia? Blashford-Snell says that these plants were transported by so-called balsas or sailing boats made from Lake Titicaca reed. Would that be true?
Inspired by Thor Heyerdahl's missions, Blashford as a president of the Scientific Exploration Society, organized in 1998 with the British chapter of the Explorers Club, the Kota Mama expeditions. Like Thor Heyerdahl, he wants to prove that ancient sailing boats made of reed linked the cultures of Egypt and Mesopotamia with Tiwanaku or even Tiwanaku-Atlantis!
