I am a Leatherback of 110 years old. My people get killed by the Long Line fishers and the poachers who steel the egs. Yes, tenthousands of egs laid at the Surinam beaches find their way to the local market.The Long Liners fish on marlin which they hardly catch. They get sharks and one of my brothers or sisters.

You know why? We like gelly-fish and on the hook they put a sort of fluorescent lightstick which confuses. We take bait and are hooked. No, they don't let us go. They sometimes do, after cutting a leg or so. Or they simply cut the line and we die with the bait inside. I ask for help. I just laid over 100 eggs. My children. Please protect them. I am going back to sea, not knowing whether I will survive·
