Lions get killed by aids
The death of lions in South African Kruger Park
is due to aids and tuberculoses, says the managing director of
the Addo Croc & Lion Ranch, a lion breeding farm at one-hour drive
of Port Elisabeth. "Mostly park rangers blame an illness like
a flue or a virus, but the truth is that these big cats catch
illegal immigrants from Mozambique
crossing the border by trespassing the Kruger Park. Mostly these
people carry aids. The moment they get attacked or killed by lions,
these animals get infected as well." South Africa counts 200 lion
breeding farms, mostly producing for the private game reserves
that sell a glimpse of wildlife in a five star ambience with a
ten star price tag. Also the lions are sold to private game hunting
farms where you may shoot a lion 'just for fun'. |
